Alexandra
Vocal Coach
Alexandra is an award-winning Greek mezzo-soprano (Guildhall Gold Medal, Maria Callas Foundation Competition) with performances at international venues such as Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, Southbank Centre, Philharmonie de Paris, the BBC Proms, and Glyndebourne Opera.
Featured on BBC Radio 3 and international broadcasters, she excels in historical, contemporary, and folk music.
Her teaching approach combines vocal technique with a deep exploration of the student's individual voice, through improvisation, and exploration of a diverse range of repertoire. Central to her practice are meditation techniques, Feldenkreis-inspired movement exercises, as well as ear training through play, ensuring a holistic experience that fosters empowerment and release. She works from the premise that no two voices are the same and tailors lessons to suit her students' needs.
With nine years of teaching experience, Alexandra has imparted her knowledge to a wide range of students, from children and beginner adults to professionals, covering classical, musical theatre and contemporary singing (from beginner to advanced), piano (from beginner to intermediate), and music theory (from beginner to advanced), coaching students for exams, performances, auditions, and competitions. Her work also extends to facilitating choirs and vocal groups.
She studied Musicology and Music Pedagogy at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Historical Performance at the Early Music Centre of Athens Conservatoire, and Vocal Studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and holds a Master of Music with highest distinction and Concert Recital Diploma (awarded to the best achieving performers) from the Guildhall Opera Course. At Guildhall, she continued to contribute as a 2023/24 Vocal Fellow, facilitating a collaborative project for the creation of new vocal repertoire, drawing from her practical experiences and academic insights gained through her research in 'Extended Vocal Techniques and teaching of the 20th century repertoire' to foster new generations of musicians.
