Guitar
Fábio is a Portuguese classical guitarist and lutenist based in London.
Praised for his versatility and expressive performances, he has won prizes at the
21st Ivor Mairants Guitar Award (2nd Prize, 2021) and the Concorso di Chitarra
“Gaetano Marziali” (3rd Prize, 2021). His recent highlights include recitals at the
Barbican Centre, St. James’s Church Piccadilly, Milton Court Concert Hall, The
English Music Festival, and a solo appearance with Orquestra Con Spirito in
Portugal.
Fábio moved to London in 2014 to study at the Guildhall School of Music &
Drama, completing both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees under Robert
Brightmore before serving as a Junior Fellow in 2020–21. He later graduated cum
laude from the internationally acclaimed Máster Guitarra Alicante in Spain, which
earned him a recital at the prestigious Auditorio de la Diputación de Alicante.
Since 2015, he has also studied lute and theorbo with David Miller, performing
with members of the Academy of Ancient Music at the Deal Festival, at the
London Handel Festival, and as part of Dame Emma Kirkby’s Dowland Works.
Fábio recently recorded his debut album with English Music Records, to be
released in 2026, featuring rediscovered and overlooked English music spanning
from the Baroque to the present day.
